Spiritual bathing is not new and is part of most religions and cultures in one form or another.
In modern times we have become very wired into technology and media. The access to news and other forms of entertainment is more accessible now than any other era in our history.
The practice of self care is only mildly understood by people, and often is thought to require a lot of money and the assistance of practitioners and a handing over of self care practice.
There are simple spiritual bathing techniques that can be done to take charge of your own self care, connect with your inner world, disconnect from the outer world, empower yourself and take responsibility for how you feel.
Creating your bath tea for spiritual bathing:
The Law of One is a Sacred Science of the mechanics of consciousness and are the Natural Laws governing our Universal Creation. All-One is the recognition that Eternal Truth is Eternal Love and Eternal Love is the organic consciousness of Infinite Creator, or God.
Apply the practice of Unity with All-One as an extension towards loving, honoring and respecting yourself. Acknowledge the precious life force within by holding reverence and respect for yourself in all ways. Loving yourself is the action of Self Sovereignty, which is the natural state of embodying God’s Eternal Love.
As you learn to love yourself, love others. Acknowledge the precious life force in others by holding love, reverence and respect for others. Loving others as you love yourself, is the natural state of Self Sovereignty as you give others the same reverence for their life, as you give your own life.
Loving the Earth and all her creations, the kingdoms of nature, plants, animals and mineral, which are all alive, conscious and intelligent energy beings. Acknowledge the precious life force present in all of God’s creation, by holding reverence and respect for nature.
Being of service does not hold an ego perspective of entitlement, expectation or attachment. Practice being of service with unconditional love, and naturally flowing in the moment. The energy exchange made between participants being of service to others, amplifies and expands consciousness growth like no other method.
To cooperate with the process of mental and physical discomfort by having patience and waiting in the void of silence (meditation). Learn to quiet the mind, sublimate the ego and be still. Once stillness, mental discipline and ego sublimation has been achieved, listen to your inner spirit to receive guidance.
*Do not meditate while under any version of spiritual/ energetic attack. If seeing a healer, ask for guidance around meditation practice. Otherwise kundalini yoga/meditative kriyas are a better alternative.
Knowing and Living our purpose brings joy, peace and fulfilment, even when facing adversity or challenges. Once we achieve “knowing”, we are responsible for that knowing, and practice responsible co-creation with the All-One. A responsible co-creator knows all manifestations are in partnership with the All-One. We do not possess or control anything. It is the responsibility of ones self to control needs, desires, carnal mind and superimposing ones will upon another. This includes taking/siphoning energy, domination, violence either spiritual, emotional or physical, and manipulation in all of its forms (includes energetic manipulation, thought forms focused upon a person(s) for control of others) - should always be avoided.
Try binaural beats to deepen meditation, or use to relax in a bath or nature. Help with insomnia and cooling down the central nervous system. Tune into peace and tune out of stress into 'brainwave entrainment.'
Try something different and break the chains of obsessive thinking, anxiety symptoms and sadness. Kundalini yoga is a branch of Laya yoga which is estimated to be 30, 000 years old. This form of yoga uses synchronised breath and movement called kriyas. The combination of movement and breath helps to break patterns of the mind. Kundalini Yoga can help enhance drug and alcohol recovery when combined with counselling and professional help. The daily practice of kundalini can help remove patterns, pathways created through obsessive mind chatter, thoughts, focus, emotions, the emotional attachment to nostalgia and the past.
The main benefits of Qigong is the clearing of energy through the meridians of the body, as well as peace of mind restored through movement and breath. Qigong is a moving meditative practice similar to Tai Chi, only that Qigong has specific sequence and movement for medical benefits. Tai Chi is meditative, slowed down martial arts. Also, as an energy healer there are sequences in Qigong that clear and energise energy in the auric bodies and energy centres. That I personally find to be very powerful. Qigong can be done by anyone, at any age, and is not based on any physical skill. It's a beautiful practice first thing in the morning to wake up the body gently, and breathe in a new day.
2-3 scoops of Epsom salts
2-3 handfuls of sea salt
*If using oils - 3 drops of essential oils.
Half of a fresh lemon. If using Lemon essential oil make sure there is real lemon essence in the oil. Add a bay leaf to bath or steep 3 bay leaves in hot water bowl with the half lemon. Soak time = 20-30 minutes. Immerse and three times with head under water or bowling water over your head. Say your prayers of clearing.
Will give a general clear of overall energy. it might be too harsh however for dry skin or people with porous energy fields. Use the goats milk bath instead. Or if dry skin is the only issue, make sure to moisturise the body afterwards. This is a strong bath, but it doesn't clear intense energy attacks. This bath is for general well being.
Brew coffee - one cup or two.
2-3 handfuls of sea salt
Soak time = 20-30 minutes
Immerse and three times with head under water or bowling water over your head. Say your prayers of clearing. Removes negative thought forms: jealousy, anger, self sabotage and will clear emotions and spirit attachments. The coffee also can work as an anti-oxidant for hair and skin. This bath is for general well being.
2 cups of goats milk and a handful of parsley.
Add to bath. This bath repels negative energies, and is beneficial for those that find the salt baths too strong. (*option to add 2 spoons of sea salt if not pregnant.) Say your prayer or mantra. Immerse and three times with head under water or bowling water over your head. 20 - 30 mins soak. This bath is for general well being.
2 scoops of epsom salts, a scoop of bicarb soda, (optional *a small jar of ocean, stream or river water collected that day). Either use real herbs steeped in hot water bowl method or good quality essential oils. Add steeped herbs of either Rosemary or Lavender. Or three drops essential oil Rosemary or Lavender. Soak and relax. Bringing the intention to release. Say whatever prayer or mantra serves your highest good. Immerse and three times with head under water or bowling water over your head. 20 - 30 mins soak.
If you do not have a bath you can use a foot soak, a sponge or cloth and stroke the soak from top of your head to feet. With the intention in your mind to remove what does not serve you energetically. Close eyes and feel within and connect with your inner world. This can conducted as a moving meditation. Immerse bowling/cupping water over your head three times. Soak feet 20-30 mins
If you have a shower and no bath, you can use the bowl of bathing tea and pour scoops over your head. Using a cloth or sponge to wipe downward. Bringing the intention to clear and remove what does not serve you. Saying your prayer or mantra to release and remove unwanted energy. Showers will be shorter so add this visualisation: While standing under the shower, visualise that the water is white light from above pouring down your body, and imagine grey or dark water going down the plug, until you see it as clear water.
If you are ok with salt, you can put hand fulls in your shampoo and wash hair, with hand fulls of salt to rub down arm and legs. Rinse off and say your mantra/prayer as the salt is removed. *This part is extra only if you are ok with salt on your skin and you feel you need a stronger cleanse.
Forrest or nature bathing lowers stress levels, oxygenates the blood, clears the mind, connects the self to nature in oneness, and helps to unplug from the modern world and its devices.
Is part of Japanese culture (Shinrin-Yoku), as part of stress release. Moving slowly through nature and taking in the energy of what is around, this is a walking meditation, not a jog or bootcamp experience. Its taking in the surrounds in a slow pace, to create some mental space and allow tranquility to enter the mind. From ABC website "Forest bathing has been shown to significantly reduce blood pressure and stress levels, as well as have cardiac and pulmonary benefits."
Walking in nature has proven results against fighting heart disease, see this article from the ABC. Walking in your favourite destination, the beach, around local gardens, coastal walks, national parks etc... are all options to disconnect and reconnect to the self. If suffering from any major depression or suicidal ideation be mindful of walking alone and creating feelings of loneliness. Find a walking group or hiking group, and be amongst others, even if feeling shy, to be around other people and nature creates a sense of togetherness.
You can use any prayers that work for you to release and protect.
Or you can use this option below:
Take a sponge or face washer and wipe from top of body downward.
Say: "Remove from aura all energy that is not mine, and not my burden to carry" Say this x 3 times. Then say: "Remove from my aura all of the negative emotional energy now, and fill me with the energies of peace, love, joy, light and inner power."
Or use this blessing/prayer when sitting in the bath:
"I ask that all negative energy, negative influencing energy, and any destructive and chaotic emotions must leave me and this space now. I am claiming my body and energy field as my own, I close off my energy field to all, except my higher self and those beings of the highest consciousness who are here with me on my spiritual path. Grant that this water may make for peace of mind and restore my energy to its original state of grace. Please fill me with the energies of love, joy, peace and prosperity in my world, with thanks and gratitude."
Psalms of this kind work if one has alignment. Which means feeling the connection within your heart to religious faith. As well as, belief in God creator of all that is.
If unsure of prayer work, please go to reading list below.
You can use mantras also if you are more aligned with mantras. However, use mantras that are designed to release unwanted energies. Be mindful of which mantras you use, make sure to understand the translation, and that it is aligned with the right intention.
An example of a mantra that releases blocks and reversal of negative energy to positive energy: "Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad, Sat Gur Prasad, Ek Ong Kar"
This mantra can be listened and sung as you bath, generally chanted for 11 minutes.
*Spiritual bathing is part of self-care for ongoing energy clearing. If you are experiencing intense energy attacks of any kind, you will need to reach out for clearing and healing.
Spiritual bathing will not solve intense energy issues that are overwhelming the system.
This meditation is from the book
"I am woman" However, anyone can do this meditation. You can use the mudra (hand position from the book) or do the mudra I use. Cross legged place right hand in middle of chest and left hand on top of right hand. Tune in process before starting the meditation. The tuning in process is a protection mantra. Close eyes and chant:
Ra Ma Da Sa, Say Se So Hung
Chant for 11, 22 or 31 minutes at a time. This meditation lifts and shifts energy from the mind, the body and the soul.
This mantra meditation is a quick way to dispel anger. It can be done once or twice a day for times where anger is deep rooted. It can also be used with children when they feel anger. Tune in process before starting the meditation. The tuning in process is a protection mantra. Breathe in and out and start the mantra: "Jeeo, jeeo, jeeo" This sounds like Gee oh. Chanting the mantra over and over for 11 minutes only, with eyes closed, and face relaxed. This is rapid chanting and not slow, 8-10 repetition of Jeeo per every 5 seconds. At the end of the 11 minutes, take a deep breath and hold at the top for as long as you can, then release through the mouth. This is a mantra to dispel anger from the kundalini meditation book by David Shannahoff-Khalsa
Taking japa or mala beads. Sit cross legged, breathe deep in and out threes times. On a count of 4 inhale and hold for count of 4, then exhale for a count of 8. Using the beads to count start the mantra:
"gopala govinda rama madana mohana"
This meditation can be done while walking with japa/mala beads. Try chanting for 15 minutes which is around 3 times around your japa/mala beads.
If in times of crisis, or generally feeling like you cannot (re)connect to source. Use the lords prayer as a mantra. Use this mantra for 33 days, a few times a day and help uplift and reconnect your energy to source, god, the creator of all that is. There are many prayers and psalms of all faiths, these can be used to connect into your heart and embrace your relationship with the creator.
To clear the mind and prepare for meditation when mind is cluttered, stressed or anxious.
This breathing technique can be done before going to bed to ready one's self for sleep and let go of the days events. This technique also can sometimes clear blocked sinuses.
To practice alternate nostril breathing:
This technique can be done in the mirror (compliments mirror work) or while sitting comfortably. The tapping of meridians in the upper body reduces stress and anxiety. Using affirmations that pertain to how you are feeling at the time, will give you the opportunity to release whatever root fears you are feeling. You can find corresponding affirmations to physical ailments in Louise Hay's book: "You can heal your life."
When tapping, use two or more fingertips and repeat the tap approximately five times on each point. Tap and say the affirmation as a mantra, until you feel a release, as a calmer mind starts to emerge. This can be done for 3 mins and longer. It's a good technique to release energy at the start or end of the day.
The tapping points, in sequence, are as follows:
What to do when life hurts - find peace in the midst of your pain.
Practicing the Power of Now shows us how to free ourselves from “enslavement to the mind.”
The aim is to be able to enter into and sustain an awakened state of consciousness throughout everyday life.
Learn how to understand what is your energy and what isn't. This book is written by the well known healer and speaker on energy healing - Eva Marquez.
